Techniques In Passing The PMP Certification Exam

Posted by PM Campus On 12:47 AM No comments

The questions within the PMP Exam are full of deception. But, this is purposely done so that they can capture those who are able to take the exam even though they have not yet completed the requirements, those who just scanned out the PMBOK for a while and then take the exam without any proper preparation. They just depend on their own experience knowing that it is NOT where the PMI is basing for the exam; it is not even close to the exam questions! The PMI has provided us the required methods for the exam such as the PBMOK and we are bound to follow that certain method only if you want to pass. Otherwise, you will surely fail.

On the other hand, this deception has also the capacity to trick those loyal pros! To prevent this from happening, here is some lists of strategies you can use:

- Practice and follow the PMI Process. We know that there will be questions that can be answered using your common sense. With this situation, it is possible that you will skip the formal procedures because you are pressured with saving time. Well, I say that you are giving yourself in to the trap! Whatever the problem may be, follow the PMI process. Every PMP Exam depends upon the standard the PMI gives. So, follow the PMI only. It will give you the correct answer.

- Never look for an easy way out. Some choices give you a great deal of headache for it needs more time and focus and you think of just ignoring it. You should not do that because there will be a great possibility that you will choose the wrong answer if you do.

- One thing you need to put into your mind before taking the exam is the roles and functions of customers, team members, sponsors, stakeholders, functional managers, the project office, and most importantly, the project manager in working for a successful project. I tell you that questions about their work and responsibility are to be expected. But, if you really don't have any idea about certain person and his work, it's best that you answer project manager. Also, you need to have knowledge about projectized, matrix and functional - the 3 different types of organizations. I expect that most questions are concerning to matrix organizations; you should have a little focus in studying that area.

These tips will help you be wise during the exam. You must not focus only on the limited time given and to answer the 200 multiple-choice questions but also the right and formal process in choosing the best answer and it must be according to the standard the PMI has given to us. This exam is surely tricky so you must be careful not to fall to get fooled. You already worked hard and cost much money just to earn that right knowledge you need in order to pass the exam. I know you can make it. Just remember to stay calm so that you can fully focus on everything you need look out during the exam.
